In an exclusive interview with The Transfer Tavern, Steve Bull, who made 561 appearances for Wolves, has claimed that if Nuno Espirito Santo was going to leave it would have been before he signed his new contract.
Tottenham Hotspur are still looking for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho last month and Nuno Espirito Santo has been linked with the job despite guiding Wolves to their worst league position since gaining promotion in 2018, with The Sunday Mirror, via Spurs-Web, reporting that Levy intends to hold talks with the Portuguese.
Should Nuno stay at Wolves?
Nuno signed a new three-year contract at Molineux just last year as he aims to keep his project going which has seen him bring in countless young stars from across Europe and turn them into Premier League quality.
Speaking on why fans should not be worried about Nuno leaving Wolves and how it would be a sideways step for the manager, Bull exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:
“There were reports of him leaving earlier on this season but I think they were scuppered because he signed a new three-year deal. So, for me personally, I can’t see why he‘d go to Tottenham, because I think we’re more or less in the same bracket.
“I think if you’re looking at somewhere he could go to, you’d be looking at Man City or Chelsea, but they’ve already got managers. So then maybe someone like Inter Milan or Juventus. I can see him being at Wolves for quite a while unless they don’t give him the money to spend.”
Nuno was brought to Wolves by super-agent Jorge Mendes back in 2017 and in his first season, he was blessed with players such as Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota as Wolves stormed to the Championship title.
This season has been the most difficult for Nuno as he has had to cope with several injuries to key players such as Raul Jimenez, Willy Boly and Pedro Neto.
