Dean Windass has laughed off suggestions that Raheem Sterling could be involved a swap deal that would see Harry Kane end up at Manchester City this summer.

The Sun reported earlier this week that the Premier League champions were willing to offer both £81m-rated Sterling and Gabriel Jesus in a sensational deal to bring the Tottenham striker move to the Etihad Stadium.

Despite scoring 14 times and chipping in with 12 assists, it's been a mixed campaign for Sterling, who's been in and out of Pep Guardiola's team in recent months, although he was given the nod to start the Champions League final.

He'd previously played just 10 minutes across City's quarter-final and semi-final ties, with Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden often preferred out wide.

But Sterling was recalled in Lisbon, playing 77 minutes, although he couldn't help City claim their first ever European Cup.

Another recent story said that City were going to listen to offers for the England international, but Windass would be shocked to see Sterling playing his football elsewhere.

He exclusively told The Transfer Tavern:

"Why would Raheem Sterling want to leave? Would Pep want to lose Raheem Sterling? No.

"And I wouldn’t want to go. If Kane is coming the other way, why would you want to jump in a taxi and go the other way? "
