Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced that young striker Kazaiah Sterling will be going out on a half-season loan to Southend United until January.

Sterling, who has had a promising career in the youth ranks so far, scoring 35 goals in total throughout the various age levels (Transfermarkt), has been unlucky with injury issues and unable to fight his way into Tottenham's first team plans.

Sterling's high ceiling

Making two brief appearances under ex-Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, Sterling has been deemed one to watch for the future and a 'real handful' going forward, with the Lilywhites now shipping him out on a temporary basis to get much-needed experience.

The Englishman is still only 21 years old and could have many fruitful years ahead of him as the club plan to nurture his potential, and it's clear how highly Tottenham seem to rate him.

Described as a 'standout' performer in the academy by Spurs' official website, reliable Football.London correspondent Alasdair Gold believes that the youngster has had a 'tough time' when it comes to injuries  and he hopes that Sterling can get his career back on track with a fruitful loan spell at Roots Hall.

Transfer Tavern take

Jose Mourinho, who recently took to the market with Daniel Levy to bring in new striker Carlos Vinicius, will also be on the lookout for homegrown talents who can provide that extra injection of attacking flair.

Sterling could well be that player, especially going by his goalscoring record at youth level, with the Lilywhites now hoping that he can live up to his burgeoning reputation whilst overcoming fitness issues.
