Pundit and former Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny has given his reaction to some Tottenham Hotspur transfer news that has now emerged involving Harry Kane.

The Lowdown: Man Utd approach?

As per The Daily Mirror, Manchester United are now considering a fresh move in the summer window for Kane, and are 'watching developments closely' at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After Manchester City were snubbed last summer, the England captain's future is likely to be up in the air again, especially if Antonio Conte's team do not qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The Latest: Kenny reacts

Speaking to Football Insider, former Leeds United goalkeeper Kenny has been left reacting to the update, and the 43-year-old claims that Kane should now be looking to leave Hotspur Way this summer:

“It would be unbelievable if Kane finished his career without any trophies.

“That will be the only thing on his mind when he’s making his mind up.

“Everyone is saying Conte will do enough to keep Kane there but I’m not sure.

“They haven’t come close to winning anything this season and Kane wants trophies.

“If a team comes in for him who are better-placed to challenge then he will try and leave again.

“I think he has to move. If he stays at Tottenham he might get the Premier League goalscoring record.

“If he leaves he could get that and maybe a league title as well, which would be unbelievable. He should also be playing in the Champions League.

“It’s up to him but it could really happen. I see him pushing to go again.”

The Verdict: Cash in

Given the fact that Spurs are out of all cup competitions now this season, and their position in the Premier League table, it is clear that they are not matching the ambition of a player of Kane's quality, and so they must try and get the best possible money for him in the summer, ultimately letting him go.

Kane will be 29 years of age at the end of July, and so his market value is unlikely to get any higher, thus providing the perfect chance to cash in and use the money to rebuild the squad.

Of course, his goals and assists will be very difficult to replace, but the love affair has now run its path, and Lilywhites fans can look to how Liverpool fared after Philippe Coutinho's sale as a silver lining if their hero departs.
