Tottenham: Conte ‘impressed’ by Pape Matar Sarr

Tottenham: Conte 'impressed' by Pape Matar Sarr - Premier League News

Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has been left ‘impressed’ by youngster Pape Matar Sarr, and his attitude in particular.

The Lowdown: Spurs midfield problems…

Spurs have been left short in midfield after long-term injuries to both Yves Bissouma and star Rodrigo Bentancur, forcing Conte and assistant Cristian Stellini to improvise.

This has meant more minutes for both Sarr and academy graduate Oliver Skipp, with both starlets thriving in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield recently.

Both have earned praise for their performances, particularly during Spurs’ last 16 first leg tie against AC Milan in the Champions League.

The Latest: Conte ‘impressed’ with Sarr…

Sharing news on Twitter and for football.london, reliable reporter Alasdair Gold has claimed that Conte has been left ‘impressed’ with Sarr in recent weeks.

This is due to his attitude behind-the-scenes and in particular a ‘meticulous‘ decision to thoroughly study Spurs training sessions whilst on loan at FC Metz last season.

The Verdict: Exciting prospect…

The 20-year-old also returned from World Cup duty early to work with Conte and the Spurs coaching staff, further highlighting his positive attitude and real determination to succeed.

Sarr appears to be one of the most exciting prospects at Spurs right now, especially going by his solid first team performances recently.

How much did Spurs pay to sign future legend and fan favourite David Ginola?

After Bissouma and Bentancur’s absences, responsibility was thrust on the Senegal international to perform when called upon despite very rare cameos beforehand.

However, Sarr has showcased a real composure and maturity, rarely looking out of place in the Tottenham midfield alongside Skipp.

Over the next few weeks, the African sensation could well play his way into Spurs’ eleven on a more permanent basis.
