Tottenham Hotspur are 'ready' to step up their move for Inter Milan star and World Cup wing-back Denzel Dumfries, according to reports.

The Lowdown: Conte targets Dumfries...

Recent reports have suggested that the Netherlands international is a real transfer target for manager Antonio Conte amid his search for wing-back upgrades.

90min claimed that both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal, Spurs' current first choice duo, are facing the Lilywhites axe as the club make contact to sign Dumfries.

However, if Conte is to sign the 26-year-old, he may need significant backing from chairman Daniel Levy, with the price tag apparently set at around €40 million (£35m).

The Latest: Spurs 'ready' to move for Dumfries...

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, there has been an update on Spurs' pursuit of the Nerazzurri defender.

Writing on social media, the Italian reporter says Tottenham are 'ready' to step up their chase to sign Dumfries, and as reported, Inter are now open to selling their star full-back.

Galetti explained (via Twitter):

"Tottenham are ready to speed up things for Denzel Dumfries. As reported, Inter are willing to negotiate if a suitable offer arrives.

"Manchester United and Chelsea are also following the situation."

The Verdict: Make the move?

Called a 'big' wing-back and a potentially 'really good signing' for Spurs by former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, we believe Dumfries is the solution for Conte in terms of a quality upgrade on the inconsistent options currently at his disposal.

However, with rumours of a £35m asking price, Levy will have to display his backing for boss Conte in January and that aspect could be crucial in convincing the 53-year-old to sign an extension.
