Former Tottenham Hotspur player Graham Roberts believes that the club are looking to bring in two centre-backs this summer.

After Toby Alderweireld left Tottenham to join Al-Duhail this summer, Spurs announced the confirmed signing of Atalanta defender Cristian Romero last Friday.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Romero will fly to London and complete his €55m move after Atalanta agreed a deal with Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

Romero will become Tottenham’s third summer signing, with the club already completing deals for Pierluigi Gollini, who also joins from Atalanta and Bryan Gil from Sevilla. Whilst Romero looks set to join Spurs, Roberts believes there could be another centre-back arriving at the football club this summer.

He told Transfer Tavern: “I think they’re looking to bring two centre-halves in. I’ve said all this summer that you don’t want to spend your money on strikers and midfield players, we’ve got enough strikers.

“Spend your money on your right-back and two centre-halves and we will have a team then and we will have a team as good as anybody in the league."

Tottenham were also linked with a move for Jules Kounde, but Fabrizio Romano reported that he is a priority for Chelsea and that they were looking to find a solution with Sevilla as soon as possible.
