Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge has told The Transfer Tavern that Harry Winks won’t leave Spurs on deadline day.
The England midfielder was on a long list of players that looked likely to move on this summer.
However, Winks, who’s been linked with the likes of Everton and Aston Villa, now looks likely to stay at his boyhood club despite playing just one minute in their opening three Premier League fixtures.
Would Bissouma be a good signing for Tottenham?
Winks had been a regular under Mauricio Pochettino and then the early parts of Jose Mourinho’s reign, but soon lost his place following the addition of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last summer.
But not even Moussa Sissoko’s departure to Watford is will improve Winks’ chances of playing regularly under Nuno Espirito, with youngster Oliver Skipp already firmly in the Spurs boss’ best XI after impressing on loan at Norwich last season.
Bridge, though, cited Tottenham’s lack of homegrown players as another reason the 25-year-old isn’t able to leave.
He told The Transfer Tavern:
“I was told there’s no chance Harry Winks leaves. One he doesn’t want to leave and two, he’s homegrown. He’s probably someone that needs a move, but there’s no chance he can do that.”
