The Lowdown: Spurs’ previous interest in Gordon
Gordon eventually ended up staying put at Goodison Park and has been a pivotal figure in Frank Lampard’s side this season, having started in 11 of his 14 appearances in the current Premier League campaign.
However, it appears that Antonio Conte’s side have been backed to reignite their interest in the Toffees gem once next summer’s transfer window rolls around.
The Latest: Spurs to launch summer move for Gordon
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones expects Tottenham to go back in for the winger in 2023, believing that a move to north London is distinctly possible.
The journalist said of Gordon possibly joining Spurs: “I think it will happen next summer. Obviously, Everton want to tie him down to another contract and get him secured.
“But, for the player, he has to map out his own future. If he’s going to stay at Everton, they’ve got to show real ambition between now and May.”
The Verdict: Big decision for Conte and Levy
The winger also has one of the lowest overall pass success percentages (71.9%) in the Everton squad, which shows how careless he can be on the ball.
Even though David Unsworth called him an “unbelievable” player, we feel that it would be a big decision for Conte and Daniel Levy to try and sign the Everton youngster in the summer, especially if it would require the sort of fee that Chelsea considered paying a few months ago.
In our view, unless the attacker has a strong second half to the season and adds more goals and assists to his tally, signing him is something that Spurs shouldn’t be considering.
