Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil has been lauded by journalist Charlie Eccleshare for his performance in Spurs' 4-0 win against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

The Lowdown: Much-needed win

With Tottenham failing to keep clean sheets in their ten previous games prior to their trip to Selhurst Park, it was not only a much-needed win but also the kind of performance that Antonio Conte will be hoping can truly kickstart his team's Premier League season.

Harry Kane will get many of the plaudits for his second-half brace, which Matt Doherty and Son-Heung-min followed up with goals of their own, but Gil has received a special mention for his display in only his third league outing of the season...

The Latest: Gil praised by Eccleshare

Taking to Twitter during the game, Eccleshare lauded the Spaniard for improving throughout the match.

The Athletic journalist said: "Bryan Gil’s got better and better tonight, and visibly lifted by that assist. Amazing what a bit of confidence does".

The Verdict: Promising signs

The winger played his part in Tottenham's second goal, setting up Kane inside the penalty area with a clever ball, but that was not the only time that Gil impressed during his 77 minutes on the field.

By making two tackles and one interception, the 21-year-old showed that he was more than willing to pitch in with the defensive side of his game, while he also completed one dribble and registered one shot on target.

There was some understandable concern about the recent injury suffered by Dejan Kulusevski, but with Gil playing like that in his absence, Conte could have a real selection dilemma on his hands when the Sweden international is available for selection again.
