Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has been praised by sections of the media after his deserved re-call to the England national team squad.

The Lowdown: Dier dazzling...

The former Sporting star has been in brilliant form over these past months, particularly ever since manager Antonio Conte took over as Spurs boss last November.

The Italian has seemingly transformed Dier's fortunes who has gone on to dazzle as one of Conte's back three game-by-game, as evident by how often he starts for Tottenham.

As per WhoScored, only goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg can match Dier in terms of Premier League minutes so far this season with the defender marking himself out as an untouchable.

The Latest: Media hail Dier re-call...

Dier's imperious form has earned him a re-call to the England squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Italy and Germany.

Gareth Southgate appears to have cast his eye on the Spurs mainstay just in time as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar also looms.

The tournament commences at the end of November and Dier may well have played his way back into the Three Lions squad to earn himself a spot on the plane.

Following a Nations League call-up for the 28-year-old, journalists Marcelo Courrege (TV Globo), Emma de Duve (ex-football.london writer) and Jude Duncan (Citi TV) saw fit to praise Southgate's decision.

They stated, in response to Dier's inclusion:

Courrege (via Twitter): "Dier's evolution under Conte is amazing. Really, deserve it. Even because Maguire can't."

De Duve (via Twitter): "Great to see Dier back in the England squad, been a long time coming for him to get his chance again!"

Duncan (via Twitter):  "Eric Dier coming back for that CB spot in the #3Lions team. Long over due."

The Verdict: Deserved...

Dier stood out as a real star for Spurs defensively last campaign as well, making more clearances per 90 than any of his teammates in the league whilst also racking up the second-most blocks (WhoScored).

Conte's faith in the player is evidence of his quality with Lloris, Hojbjerg and superstar Harry Kane being the only Spurs players to feature over more minutes than him last campaign.

As the World Cup is just around the corner, it now appears more likely than not Dier will be one of England's chosen few.
