Tottenham: Conte without Gil after pre-Fulham update -Tottenham Hotspur News

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will be without exciting starlet Bryan Gil for today’s clash against Fulham.

The Lowdown: Spurs unbeaten…

The Premier League side are one of just a handful who remain unbeaten this campaign as manager Antonio Conte seeks to build upon their 2021/2022 top four finish and qualification for the Champions League.

Spurs fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the season against Man City?

Indeed, Conte’s side have so far won three and drawn two of their opening five top flight encounters, most recently battling to a tough 1-1 at the London Stadium against rivals West Ham.

Today, the Lilywhites take on Fulham at home and could be expected to continue their fine run – but Conte is set to be without a potentially good midfield option off the bench.

The Latest: Conte without Gil…

Indeed, the Italian will have to make do without Gil this afternoon due to his unavailability alongside winger Lucas Moura.

As relayed by Spurs’ official website, the 21-year-old will miss today’s clash against the Cottagers.

Conte explained:

“Cuti had a training session with us and is in the squad. Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil are still not available. The other players… we have to check a couple of situations to make the best decision for Saturday.”

The Verdict: Slight dampener…

Having seen his deadline day move to Valencia fail, these next few months could be crucial for the Spaniard and it will be interesting to see if Conte hands him opportunities when he returns.

Called a ‘very exciting’ but ‘raw’ prospect by members of the media (David Cartlidge), Gil’s development is arguably crucial and chairman Daniel Levy will want to see his market value increase over the next few years.
