Alasdair Gold has revealed Jose Mourinho will be without three key first-team players for Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Wolfsberger in the UEFA Europa League.
As per a tweet from football.london journalist Gold, the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss is not expecting Serge Aurier to be back from injury for the next three games, while Sergio Reguilon and Giovani Lo Celso are also not available for the game, although the former might be back for Sunday’s match away at West Ham United or for the second leg.
Aurier, Reguilon and Lo Celso will all be missed
Each player could have offered Mourinho each of their own individual qualities as Spurs look to put the tie to bed against the Austrian team.
Reguilon has made three assists for the North London club so far in the 2020/21 term, with only superstars Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son making more, while no Lilywhites player has been averaging more tackles a game than Aurier’s 2.8 (Whoscored).
Should Spurs sell Reguilon for a potentially big profit?
The former Paris Saint Germain ace, who is currently on £70,000 per week at THFC according to Spotrac, is perhaps a more reliable defensive option than Matt Doherty, who primarily played more as a wing-back when he was at Wolves.
Spurs will also miss Lo Celso’s creativity that he can offer, as his average of 0.8 key passes per match is only bettered by both Kane and Son.
Nonetheless, Mourinho will be hoping that his team can do the job without three of his key men.
