Tottenham Hotspur supporters could be about to witness a very busy week as news emerges on centre-back target Clement Lenglet of Barcelona.

The Lowdown: Paratici moving...

After completing deals for Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma, Spurs transfer chief Fabio Paraticiis now reliably believed to be closing in on Premier League star Richarlison.

It is claimed that the Brazil international wants to join Spurs, who are close to reaching a full agreement of £60m including add-ons (Sami Mokbel).

Richarlison could prove to be a fantastic addition if Tottenham can get him over the line, but according to reports, it appears that the north Londoners aren't stopping there.

The Latest: Romano shares big Lenglet update...

Indeed, it appears that Spurs are also edging nearer to a deal to sign Lenglet on loan from Barcelona.

As per reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, both Antonio Conte's side and the Catalan club are sorting out the 'final details' of the Frenchman's transfer to N17.

Romano explained: "Not only full agreement on personal terms with Richarlison. Tottenham are also closing on Clement Lenglet deal with Barcelona, after new talks between clubs today. #THFC Loan deal until June 2023, as per @DiMarzio. Clubs in direct contact for final details. Spurs, on it."

The Verdict: Good news?

The 27-year-old was hardly a mainstay at Barcelona last season and struggled for game-time.

However, Lenglet has proven to be a capable ball-playing centre-back, even averaging an impressive passing accuracy of 91% out from defence over 2021/22.

Barring any hiccups, Conte could be about to secure a fairly astute back-up option, but we believe that it's certainly worth looking at other central defenders in addition to Lenglet, especially considering that the alleged plan is to sign two new centre-backs (Alasdair Gold, Spurs Q&A).
