Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in the race to sign Udinese centre-back Rodrigo Becao.

With Antonio Conte as manager and Fabio Paratici as their director of football, the north London club have used their links to Italy to sign several players from Serie A.

The likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur and Ivan Perisic have all joined the Lilywhites from Italian clubs in recent times.

It now appears that another figure in Serie A has caught the attention of Tottenham ahead of a possible move to N17.

The Latest: Spurs eyeing Becao

According to a recent report from Italian outlet Tutto Udinese, Spurs are joined by fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Everton in showing interest in signing the defender, with a potential €15m (£13m) fee being touted.

The report adds that Udinese have attempted to get the Brazilian to sign a new deal at the club before his current contract expires in 2024, but have not yet been successful. The two parties 'have stopped talking to each other for now', hinting at a contract standoff at the Stadio Friuli.

The Verdict: Worth exploring

This season has seen the 26-year-old post the highest average of tackles per game (three) at Udinese, along with the third-highest average of blocks per game (0.6) and the fifth-highest of clearances per game (1.6) in Serie A among Andrea Sottil's squad.

With an overall performance rating of 6.95/10 from WhoScored, this makes Becao - who has been described as "insurmountable" in the past by journalist Bruno Queiroz - the third-highest rated player at Udinese.

Taking that into account, it's easy to see why these three Premier League clubs have the defender on their radar and why his current employers are eager to keep hold of him.

Bearing in mind how Spurs have conceded eight goals over their four previous league games, it's safe to say that someone with Becao's defensive attributes would be a useful addition to Conte's squad.

Moving forward, if an opportunity to sign the centre-back were to arise during the upcoming January transfer window, this is definitely something that the north London club should explore.
