Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold reveals potential ‘boost’

Tottenham Hotspur: Alasdair Gold reveals potential ‘boost’ -Tottenham Hotspur News

Alasdair Gold has now revealed a potential ‘boost’ for Tottenham Hotspur for the summer transfer window, involving the naming rights for their stadium.

The Lowdown: Talks held

As per Football Insider, talks have now been held over a naming rights deal for the stadium which would be worth up to £500m.

Should Tottenham have hired Conte?

It is claimed that negotiations have taken place between Spurs and an unnamed company over a potential 20-year contract.

The Latest: Gold reveal

Replying to a fan in a Q&A session with, Gold has revealed that Tottenham could now get a ‘boost’ in transfer funds in the summer, if they can get a deal for the naming rights tied up before then.

He outlined: “From what I can gather there has been various discussions over naming rights but Spurs want to get the best possible deal for a stadium which is one of the world’s best and they’re looking for a long-term commitment.

“It doesn’t appear as if anything is close right now but the club have certainly spoken to various interested parties over the years and continue to do so.

“It’s under the remit of chief financial officer Todd Kline, who joined Spurs last year and has experience of putting together such deals.

If they could somehow get something tied up before the end of the summer it could be perfectly timed to boost their transfer funds. However, it’s already been almost three years since the stadium opened.”

The Verdict: Exciting

Even though results have been inconsistent of late on the pitch, these are exciting times for Lilywhites fans off-field.

If they can secure a mega-money deal for the naming rights, they could, as Gold suggests, have a sizeable transfer kitty at their disposal for the summer.

The club reported an £84m loss after tax in their most recent financial statement, so a healthy nine-figure deal would help clear that, with more than enough money left over to bolster the squad.

Nonetheless, with talks seemingly ongoing, it looks as if an agreement could well be struck before the end of the season.
