Tottenham Hotspur have not been given an indication of when Harry Kane will return to training at Hotspur Way, according to Football London’s Alasdair Gold.
Kane, who led England to the Euro 2020 final in July, was due to report back to the Spurs facility on Monday for coronavirus testing but was a no-show (via BBC Sport).
It also emerged on Monday that Kane would be fined for his absence, with the club left ‘disappointed’ (via Sky Sports).
Kane enjoyed a fine 2020/21 season, scooping both the Golden Boot and the Playmaker Award after scoring 23 goals and providing 14 assists (via Premier League).
Kane was missing on Tuesday morning as well, Gold revealed. And he ‘understands’ that, ‘at this stage’, the club are unaware of when he might return.
‘No return today for Harry Kane to Tottenham’s pre-season under Nuno Espirito Santo.
‘Understand the club have not been made aware of when he will return at this stage,’ the reliable reporter revealed on Twitter.
Spurs are headed to Stamford Bridge tomorrow night for a friendly and will also face arch-rivals Arsenal on Sunday in preparation for their season-opening clash with Man City.
It looks as if the lines of communication between club and player have been severed if Gold is correct, a quite damning detail of this whole saga – Spurs would have at least hoped to establish a constructive dialogue.
On the one hand, Kane could be accused of showing Tottenham great disrespect. But on the other, you could argue that this is his only hope of getting the move, and competing for the trophies he so desires.
Either way, the remaining four weeks of the window are set to be an almighty test of Levy’s resolve, and a test of the fans’ patience too.
In other news, Nuno is said to be weighing up this Premier League swoop.
