Tottenham: Lilywhites planning new contract talks for Harry Kane

Tottenham: Lilywhites planning new contract talks for Harry Kane -Premier League News

Tottenham Hotspur are planning to enter contract talks with Harry Kane ‘soon’, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano

The lowdown: Settled star

Having seemingly become disenchanted with life in N17 amidst interest from Manchester City last summer, Kane came to the fore once again for the Lilywhites under Antonio Conte.

The talismanic 28-year-old was a key factor behind Spurs qualifying for the UEFA Champions League via a fourth-place Premier League finish and took an astonishing career tally to 306 direct goal involvements from just 385 appearances for the club in the process.

Now, despite reported interest from Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, Kane is believed to be ready to further commit his future to the north London club…

The latest: ‘Soon…’

Taking to Twitter to quash the idea of the 73-cap England captain leaving Tottenham this summer, reputable transfer guru Romano also claimed that new contract talks are in the offing.

He stated: “There’s no discussion, negotiation or talk about Harry Kane. Tottenham always considered him untouchable and there’s nothing concrete going on with Bayern. Levy, Paratici and Conte have never considered to sell Kane this summer – Spurs want to discuss a new deal soon.”

Spurs fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the season against Man City?

The verdict: Music to the ears

Due to a contract existing only until 2024 (Transfermarkt), Kane is now valued at just £81m by Transfermarkt, a staggering £54m drop from his high of £135m when his last deal was signed. And following on from the uncertainty last summer, a new deal would be a massive boost for Antonio Conte and the Spurs supporters alike, allowing Daniel Levy to demand an astronomical fee if any more suitors come calling.

Despite making a slow start to the 2021/22 campaign on the back of the failed transfer to City, Kane – who was branded ‘lethal’ by journalist Alasdair Gold in 2020 – still managed to end the season with 27 goals and ten assists in 50 outings across all competitions for Spurs.

Back in the Champions League and with a summer transfer window already in full swing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, it would be another major boost and indeed a significant statement of intent for the club to see Kane extend his deal at this juncture.
