Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has no intention of leaving the club in the January transfer window, according to a recent report.

The Lowdown: Interest in Kane

The 29-year-old's current contract with Spurs is set to expire at the end of next season, and rumours have started to emerge linking him with other Premier League clubs, as well as teams from across Europe.

Neil Warnock recently told talkSPORT that the striker could be tempted by a move to Newcastle United, while Paul Merson has urged Manchester United to break the bank for the England captain, for whom Bayern Munich have been linked with a move in recent months.

The Latest: Kane's Tottenham future

According to Football Insider, Spurs' talisman has no intention of leaving the club this month, but his future will be up in the air in the summer transfer window.

There have not yet been any talks between the two parties about the deal being extended, as the 29-year-old wants the club to tie down manager Antonio Conte to a new contract before he commits his own future in N17.

The Verdict: Conte talks needed

Tottenham now find themselves at a crossroads, for they risk losing their 'serial winner' manager - as lauded by Jamie Carragher - and the man who is currently second on their all-time top scorers list, with Kane netting 265 times in 412 games, now just one behind Jimmy Greaves' record.

While Football Insider reported last October that Spurs were set to offer Conte £400k per week, making him the best-paid manager in the Premier League, the 53-year-old's refusal to sign a new deal so far could be an indication that he questions the ambition of the club.

As such, Daniel Levy needs to make assurances to the Italian that he will strengthen the squad significantly in the January transfer window - perhaps starting with the signing of Pedro Porro, a move which appears to be stalling due to the chairman's unwillingness to pay the £40m asking price.

Backing Conte in the market may yet convince him to stay at Tottenham, and in turn, Kane could be more likely to do the same.
