Rose has been placed firmly on the periphery of Tottenham’s squad following the arrival of Sergio Reguilon, and the left-back had been hoping to secure a move away from the club before the end of European transfer window. However, a move to Porto did not materialise despite some interest, as per Football London.
Tottenham career of Rose all but over
With Rose having been unable to secure a move away from Tottenham in the European window, a loan move to the Championship would likely be the only route out of Spurs for the 30-year-old. Jose Mourinho’s side do remain hopeful that a temporary switch can be sorted, as per Football London.
However, if Rose and Tottenham are unable to find a club for the defender to move to on loan before the domestic deadline, they could ‘look at mutually ending’ the England international’s contract to allow him to be free to find a new club, as per Football London journalist Alasdair Gold.
That would see the club end Rose’s current contract with a year still remaining on it – a contract which is worth around £60,000-a-week, as per Spotrac.
Sorry end to Rose’s Tottenham career
Rose was once one of the first names on the team-sheet for Tottenham, with the left-back having played a pivotal role in helping Spurs establish themselves in the top four and mount a title challenge in the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons.
The England international, though, only made 12 Premier League appearances for Tottenham last season before being shipped out to Newcastle United on loan. However, the 30-year-old was unable to perform well enough for the Magpies to make a permanent move for him, and it now it seems that he could end up being released.
