Speaking to football.london, reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has explained an ‘interesting‘ Jose Mourinho move ahead of the north London derby with Arsenal tomorrow afternoon – going on to point out the manager’s reluctance over playing mind games with the fitness of Harry Kane.
Kane, who looked doubtful for the encounter with Arsenal on Sunday, is now looking more likely to feature after Mourinho hinted at a good chance of his availability.
Gold explains ‘interesting’ Kane move
The Englishman was ruled out of Spurs’ last match, with the Lilywhites having to settle for a lacklustre 3-3 draw to Austrian minnows LASK in the Europa League.
Despite that result taking them through to the knockout rounds, Tottenham arguably missed the influence of star names like Kane and Sergio Reguilon, who was also absent.
Now, as explained by Mourinho, the 27-year-old talisman looks likely to feature – but Gold explains this admission is far from what we usually get from the Portuguese in anticipation for such a crucial encounter.
Transfer Tavern take
Gold, speaking to football.london, has pointed out that the lack of mind games with Kane’s fitness levels is ‘very un-Mourinho like‘ – explaining that his candid and honest update ahead of Arsenal was ‘quite interesting‘.
Given he is well known for his psychological warfare in the build up to crunch clashes, Gold may have a point – but it remains to be seen how Mourinho will approach Kane’s involvement on Sunday.
Rival boss Mikel Arteta will be keeping a watchful eye on proceedings as he hopes to turn Arsenal’s fortunes around, but Lilywhites supporters are praying their team cement the Gunners’ worrying run of form.
