Football.London’s Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold has shed some light on the behind the scenes conflict concerning Gareth Bale at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Bale’s loan return to the north London club from Real Madrid has not exactly been stellar, with the Welshman only playing sporadically for Jose Mourinho’s side this term, as he has been sidelined through injury for a couple of spells during the season.
What has Gold said about Bale’s ‘weird’ situation?
In a tweet sharing his article, Gold said that Bale’s current situation at the north London club is a ‘weird’ one. In that article, the journalist explained that Bale is ‘a very awkward topic’ at Spurs at present, perhaps due to his loan return not going quite as smoothly as all associated with the Lilywhites had hoped it would.
Gold then shed light on some behind the scenes conflict at Tottenham regarding Bale, with the journalist revealing that there are two clashing views on the Welshman in north London right now.
He explained that one group believes there is still a top-quality player in Bale and ‘he’s just got to find his rhythm.’ Gold explained that this group believes Bale could be a key man for the Lilywhites in the second half of the 2020/21 campaign.
However, on the other hand, the journalist explained that another section within the club believes that the decision to bring the Wales international back to the Premier League on loan has been ‘a disaster,’ indicating that these people don’t think there’s a great chance Bale will come good this term at all.
Will Bale turn his season around?

With that in mind, and knowing that he hasn’t played a massive role for the Lilywhites this term, it may be understandable why some believe his Tottenham return has been ‘a disaster’ and perhaps it would take an incredible upturn in form for the group that believes there’s still hope for this deal to turn out positively, to be proven right.
