Writing on Twitter, reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has issued a telling update on heavily linked sporting director Luis Campos.
The Lille transfer guru, who has been tipped to take a role under Daniel Levy, is also being monitored by Premier League giants Man United – and it’s not hard to see why given his resume.
Scouting some of the biggest talents in world football, including Bernardo Silva and Kylian Mbappe for AS Monaco, Campos is said to have a fantastic relationship with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.
Should Spurs still consider appointing Campos?
Gold delivers blow to Campos links
However, dishing out the latest on Campos, Gold has delivered an update which won’t excite supporters too much – with the journalist strongly hinting that Levy and co have no desire to appoint him at the moment.
For those people asking about Luis Campos, Spurs only officially appointed Steve Hitchen as their director of football (the title was technical performance director) last month.

Telling all ‘those asking’, the Football.London insider seemingly implies that Tottenham’s recent appointment of Steve Hitchen as director of football has effectively ended the chase for Campos – at least for the time being.
Gold previously described him as ‘perfect for Spurs‘, especially under Levy, but it looks like Lilywhites will have to wait and see out Hitchen’s promising reign so far.
Transfer Tavern take
Acquiring a super seven signings over the transfer window, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Gareth Bale, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Rodon all joining, it’s certainly been a good few months to remember.
Taking this into account, supporters shouldn’t feel too devastated over the Campos update, especially with Bale’s impending debut just around the corner.
