Alasdair Gold has singled out Eric Dier for criticism despite Spurs winning 3-0 at home against Leeds United in the Premier League.
The Tottenham Hotspur journalist gave his overall player ratings in his latest piece for football.london, which saw the central defender earn just a six out of ten despite keeping a clean sheet.
Should Dier start for Spurs?
He also highlighted that Dier had some ‘very sloppy’ moments in the first half and added that his passing has remained ‘so inconsistent’.
Dier was sloppy against Leeds
The 26 year-old was indeed sloppy in the game as Gold rightfully points out, losing possession of the ball no fewer than 10 times, and given that he only had 34 touches (Sofascore), he lost it every 3.4 touches on average.
Gold was right to criticise his passing as well, as he only managed a 53% accuracy in the whole match, which was the worst out of any of his teammates to have set foot on the pitch, and also failed to make a single key pass despite his ability to play out from the back (Sofascore).
Although Matt Doherty is likely to get the majority of the criticism out of any of the Lilywhites players given his late sending off after two bookable offences, Gold was not too impressed with the England international.
