Tottenham Hotspur: Gary Neville backs Antonio Conte to win silverware at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur: Gary Neville backs Antonio Conte to win silverware at Spurs -Tottenham Hotspur News

Tottenham Hotspur will win some silverware under Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville.

The Lowdown: Conte’s time at Spurs

Since the Italian took charge of the Lilywhites a year ago, he has taken the club into the Champions League by finishing fourth in the Premier League last season and has since seen them top their group in Europe to get into the round of 16, where they will face AC Milan.

On the domestic side of things, the north London club find themselves in fourth place, having won eight of their 14 league games this term.

Twelve month into his time in charge of Spurs, Conte has been backed to secure some silverware for the club during his time at the helm.

The Latest: Spurs backed to lift a trophy under Conte

Speaking on Sky Sports after seeing Spurs lose 2-1 to Liverpool on Sunday, Neville was insistent that Conte will not leave Tottenham until he has silverware to add to the club’s trophy cabinet.

The former Manchester United defender said: “I do think he’ll get them a trophy. He’s the type of manager that he won’t leave until he gets them a trophy. He’s that type, I think he wants success and he will deliver success.”

Neville continued: “He’s smart, he’s intelligent. Daniel Levy will have to make sure that he keeps him happy because if he feels like he’s going to be exposed and he isn’t going to be challenging for the top four, he’ll just jump.”

The Verdict: Spurs must keep hold of Conte

As a proven winner in Italy with Juventus and in England with Chelsea, there is no denying the 53-year-old’s pedigree when it comes to being successful.

Taking that into account and the fact that Spurs have won 32 of the 56 games Conte that has taken charge of for the Lilywhites, it should be the top priority for the club’s hierarchy to do everything that they can to ensure that the Italian stays where he is for as long as possible.

In fact, it was recently reported that the club had opened talks with the manager over the possibility of him signing a new contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which shows just how keen they are to tie him down.

Having also been backed in the transfer market by bringing in several new players over the summer, this further highlights how willing the club are to help Conte achieve success and win trophies at Spurs.
