Tottenham Hotspur: Darren Bent swoons over ‘tremendous’ Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur: Darren Bent swoons over ‘tremendous’ Harry Kane - Tottenham Hotspur News

Speaking to Football Insider, Tottenham pundit Darren Bent has heaped praise on the ‘absolutely tremendous’ Harry Kane for his performances and achievements – with the England captain currently shining at club level for manager Jose Mourinho.

Kane, who most recently bagged a last gasp match-winner for Spurs in the Premier League, clinching all three points away to West Brom in the dying minutes, is now being lauded by Bent for his ‘extraordinary’ showings.

Will Kane surpass Wayne Rooney's England record?

100%, it's inevitable

Partnering fellow star Son Heung-min to devastating effect this season, Kane has been worshipped for his performances at both club and international level – coming after fellow pundit Noel Whelan claimed he is ‘coming back’ into this best form.

Bent waxes lyrical over Kane

Bent also believes that the 27-year-old will go on to break Wayne Rooney’s record for England ‘quite easily’ – tipping the Spurs ace to become his national side’s all-time top goalscorer whilst cementing legendary status.

However, despite his never-ending praise, the talkSPORT pundit still believes that Rooney was ‘all-round’ the best going forward.

“Listen, Kane’s one of the very, very best. I mean, in my opinion, he will go on to break Rooney’s England record quite easily,” explained Bent to Football Insider.

“If he stays fully fit and plays for another 10 years or so, there’s no reason why he can’t break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record. His record is incredible, 149 goals in 217 Premier League games is extraordinary, absolutely extraordinary.

“He’s worked hard. I think he’s probably playing the best football of his career at the minute, I’m a big fan of his. Is he the best English Premier League striker of all time? For me, it’s all-round and I think it’s difficult because, for me, Rooney all-round was the best.

“Rooney was superb but that’s no slight on Harry Kane, Harry Kane is absolutely tremendous, if you talk about centre-forwards around the world, he’s one of the very, very best.

“So listen, he is playing really well, Spurs are benefitting from it, England are benefitting from it so it’s happy days for everybody.”

Transfer Tavern take

It’s no secret that Kane has, arguably, been Tottenham’s player of the season so far – and if he can continue this fine run of form under Mourinho – there is no telling what the club can achieve this season.
