News emerged from Tottenham Hotspur this week that Eric Dier signed a new contract which keeps him at the club until 2024.
The 26 year-old defensive midfielder/centre-back, who is valued at £18 million, has played 239 games in all competitions for the club, picking up eleven goals and eleven assists along the way, per Transfermarkt.
Clearly this he is an important part of the squad, and Jose Mourinho seems to have enjoyed what he has seen of the Englishman since he has become manager of the club.
Dier is also clearly happy that he has been offered to stay in north London for longer, as he went to Instagram to post about the deal after it was announced. He posted a picture of himself at the training ground, supported with the caption: “Same club, new chapter.”
Spurs fans flocked to the post to congratulate the player on his new deal, showing that they are clearly happy he has signed a new deal. Others are hoping he will prove doubters wrong after a tough year in his career which has been blighted by illness and loss of form.
This should give Dier a massive morale and confidence boost ahead of the new season and hopefully he can repay Spurs fans for their support by putting in great performances to help the club push higher up the table next season.
