Vis his Instagram account, via The Spurs Web, 6 foot 1 Tottenham star Erik Lamela has confirmed his injury whilst sharing an update of his recovery progress from behind the scenes at Hotspur Way – with the attacker having to be ‘off the field‘ for a short time.
Lamela on road to recovery
Lamela, who missed Spurs’ away game at West Brom this afternoon, shared a candid update on social media recently detailing the extent of his foot injury as confirmed by manager Jose Mourinho shortly before the trip.
Claiming that he is ‘already working’ to get back to his best, the international break seemingly couldn’t have come at a better time for the player.
Should Lamela start upon potential return against Man City?
Indeed, Lamela now has nearly two weeks to fight his way back to fitness before Tottenham’s first game back – which will come in the form of a home game against Man City.
Transfer Tavern take
Mourinho’s men face a tough challenge upon their return from the international break, but the Argentine, with any luck, will have made significant steps in his recovery to possibly enter contention.
The attacker hopes to be back in time to face the Sky Blues, and while some Lilywhites supporters have mixed reviews for their winger, he has proven to be effective in past encounters with Pep Guardiola’s side.
Lamela is currently the only player confirmed as sidelined, with recent injury worries Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga having returned, but Spurs could potentially have a fully fit squad in time for their match against City.
Time will tell whether he does come back for that game, but it could provide Mourinho with another attacking option.
