Tottenham Hotspur: Former Italy international urges potential north London move for Maurizio Sarri

Tottenham Hotspur: Former Italy international urges potential north London move for Maurizio Sarri - Tottenham Hotspur News

Speaking to Si Gonfia La Rete, as relayed by Area Napoli, former Italy international Salvatore Bagni has urged a potential Tottenham Hotspur move for ex-Chelsea and Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri – dropping his verdict on the situation.

Sarri, who was sacked by Juve at the end of last season, has been out-of-work since leaving Turin – with the former Chelsea boss having recently turned down an approach from Marseille to replace Andre Villas-Boas (Sky Sports).

Tottenham touted as potential move for Sarri

Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers have been two managers linked with a Tottenham move if current gaffer Jose Mourinho is shown the exit door (Daily Record), but now Sarri has been touted as another potential candidate as Bagni believes Spurs could be a good option for him.

He also mentions north London rivals Arsenal, recommending possible destinations for Sarri given he has been without a job for the whole of 2020/2021.

Indeed, Tottenham or their cross-town neighbours could apparently be a ‘great possibility‘ – with the former Napoli midfielder claiming he would ‘choose‘ either one of those teams in Sarri’s position.

Despite not being officially linked with the job yet, Sagni believes Tottenham could be among the ideal destinations for Sarri as he touts a potential Premier League return for him.

Transfer Tavern take

Former Lilywhites favourite Mauricio Pochettino, speaking on Radio CRC (via TUTTOmercatoWEBB) back in 2018, hailed Sarri’s football as ‘fantastic’ and the ‘most beautiful to watch’ in Europe.

Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho also had kind words for his former boss in an Instagram live discussion last year (via Football Italia), calling him a ‘magnificent’ coach and ‘extraordinary’ on a tactical level.

Time will tell whether Sarri does emerge as an option for Spurs if Mourinho is axed, but he should arguably at least be considered.
