According to an update by Football.London, promising Tottenham youngster George Marsh is nearing the end of his current deal and so could leave next summer unless the club offer him a new contract – with Spurs potentially in danger of losing a ‘very combative’ young talent.
Marsh, who has only made one appearance for the Lilywhites, back in the 2019 FA Cup against Tranmere Rovers, signed a professional contract keeping him in north London until 2021.
Marsh on the move?
As revealed by football.london, that agreement is steadily coming to a close, with Spurs facing the prospect of letting him go on a free deal unless they offer a fresh contract.
Marsh, despite his lack of chances, enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Leyton Orient over 2019/2020 – but he didn’t manage to secure another temporary move this season.
Indeed, back with the Under-23s and reportedly impressing, Marsh could decide to go out in search of more first team football upon his contract expiry – with Mourinho and Daniel Levy having a decision to make over the youngster.
Transfer Tavern take
Marsh isn’t the only Spurs player who faces a contract expiry, with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Danny Rose and Gedson Fernandes all running out the clock on their deals (football.london).
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will decide not to lose the youngster, but judging by the comments on his abilities, Marsh could be a great talent to have around for the future.
