According to a report from Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are among the leading contenders to sign Rubin Kazan winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer.

The lowdown: 'The Georgian Messi'

The 21-year-old sensation has previously drawn comparisons to seven-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi and was dubbed 'the Georgian Messi' due to similarities in their playing style, with a low centre of gravity and incredible close control.

Kvaratskhelia left his homeland for Locomotiv Moscow in 2018 before joining Russian Premier League side Rubin Kazan in 2019, where he has gone on to score nine goals and provide 18 assists in 73 total games.

Now the £14.40million valued ace could be on the move once again.

The latest: Spurs in the mix

As per the report from the Italian source, as translated by SW, Tottenham are in contention to sign the diminutive attacker.

Whilst there is also strong interest from Serie A club Napoli, the Lilywhites, led by Fabio Paratici in the market, are believed to have 'already moved' for the 12-cap Georgia star.

Furthermore, it's claimed that Leeds United and AC Milan are also attentive with the Russian club willing to sanction the sale for just €15million (£12.5million).

The verdict: A shrewd signing

At the mooted fee this is somewhat of a no-brainer for Antonio Conte and Spurs.

Previously billed as a 'very interesting' proposition by Sky Germany journalist Max Bielefeld, Kvaratskhelia possesses a range of impressive attacking attributes including dribbling, key passes and a hell of a shot from distance (WhoScored).

That skillset, plus an affordable asking price, make the Georgian left-winger a wholly viable option for the summer transfer window, arriving as a young player who can add depth and versatility to Conte's squad without the pressure to immediately become a first-choice superstar.
