As confirmed by the Stoke Sentinel, Tottenham summer signing Joe Rodon looks set to miss the Carabao Cup quarter-final clash with Stoke City today as he is cup-tied – with manager Jose Mourinho now without the defender as an option.
Rodon, who has barely featured for Spurs so far since his move from Swansea in the summer, making just the one Premier League start, is ineligible to play a part in this upcoming fixture due to the fact he has already featured in the Carabao for his former club.
Tottenham without Rodon
Indeed, the Welshman played a full 90 minutes for Swansea back in September during their first round tie against Newport County, with news emerging that Rodon is set to miss Spurs’ clash tonight due to him being cup tied.
As confirmed, Tottenham will ‘definitely’ be without Rodon, but it’s unclear who Mourinho will slot in his place as he seeks to potentially give fringe players much-needed game time.
Japhet Tanganga is also absent through injury, ruling him out, with outcast Davinson Sanchez potentially a favourite to feature today.
Transfer Tavern take
As Mourinho aims to gift Tottenham their first piece of silverwares since 2008, it’ll be interesting to see who comes in for the ‘fantastic signing‘ as they travel to Stoke.
Erik Lamela is also doubtful for the clash as he continues to work his way back to full match fitness after suffering from an achilles injury,
Whoever Mourinho decides to start, they will face a difficult task against the Championship Play-Off contenders, with Lilywhites hoping they can mount an assault on all fronts and overcome this tricky away tie.
