Speaking in a press conference, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that 'colossal' figure Japhet Tanganga will miss Liverpool this evening after picking up 'another injury' - with the Englishman now joining Erik Lamela on the sidelines as the pair aim to recover and get back to full fitness.

Tanganga, who has suffered from a plethora of injury issues since his rise to the first team, was recently making strides in working his way back into contention under Mourinho.

Tanganga absence confirmed

The homegrown defender started Spurs' last Europa League group stage encounter at home to Royal Antwerp, with the youngster putting in a solid display alongside Davinson Sanchez to keep a clean sheet against the Belgian minnows.

However, following that performance, he was not included in the Tottenham squad to face Crystal Palace last weekend - with Mourinho now confirming the worst as Tanganga misses Liverpool with another injury.

Transfer Tavern take

The 21-year-old, described as 'unlucky' with his fitness issues by Mourinho, doesn't appear to be catching a break in terms of his worrying record - and this late blow for Spurs spells yet more trouble for the youngster.

Tanganga burst on to the scene last season, which included a stunning display against Manchester City as supporters even compared his showing to that of Real Madrid star Raphael Varane.

Since then, however, the academy starlet has found it difficult to maintain that momentum due to his injury problems - with Lilywhites hoping it doesn't continue long into the future judging by his potential.
