Tottenham Hotspur star Richarlison left the stadium on crutches on Saturday after sustaining an injury in Spurs’ 2-0 win over Everton, according to journalist Dan Kilpatrick.

The Lowdown: Richarlison’s injury

Harry Kane marked his 400th appearance in a Lilywhites shirt with a goal this weekend as the north London club sealed victory over the Toffees, moving them one point behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Having featured in Antonio Conte’s starting XI, the Brazil international only managed 52 minutes after pulling up with a calf strain, forcing him off the pitch with a gingerly walk.

The Latest: Kilpatrick’s news

Kilpatrick has now shared an update on Richarlison after the player was visibly distraught over his injury blow in the aftermath of the Premier League clash.

Taking to Twitter, the journalist claimed: “Tearful Richarlison leaves Spurs stadium on crutches amid fears his World Cup dream could be over.”

In the attached article, the 25-year-old is quoted as having subsequently told ESPN Brasil: “It's kind of hard to say because it's close to the realisation of my dream [of the World Cup].

“I've already suffered a similar injury to this, but I hope it can heal as soon as possible. The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months.

“I know it's hard to talk at this moment, but let's see, I'll recover. Monday, I have an exam but even walking hurts. I have to stay positive if I want to go to Qatar.”

The Verdict: Massive blow

If Richarlison is deemed unfit for the next few months, this will come as a collective blow for the player, the Brazil national team and Tottenham.

In the Champions League this season, the attacker has averaged the third-highest match rating out of the entire Spurs squad, having contributed 2.3 shots, 1.5 key passes and 0.8 dribbles per game as a starter in all four of the Lilywhites' continental clashes (via WhoScored).

Hailed as a ‘warrior’ by Conte, Spurs fans will be hoping for good news in the next few days regarding Richarlison, as his absence alongside Dejan Kulusevski’s will come as a huge setback for the team.
