Speaking to talkSPORT, ex-Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan heaped praise on Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho after his ‘absolutely brilliant’ move to call out Jurgen Klopp for consistently talking about injury problems – calling him ‘box office’ whilst lauding the call as ‘interesting’.
Mourinho spoke candidly over Liverpool and their absences when the two sides faced off at Anfield in mid-week – with Spurs losing some ground in the title race after an unfortunate 2-1 defeat.
Spurs breakdown against Liverpool
Mohamed Salah gave the Reds a first half lead with his deflected effort which looped over an on-looking Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham goal, but Son Heung-min managed to pounce on a counter-attacking opportunity to draw the away side level at the break.
Spurs defended well for the remainder of the match and had chances of their own to clinch three points, with Steven Bergwijn striking the post and Harry Kane heading into the ground and over the bar from close range.
Punished for their lack of ruthlessness, Roberto Firmino nodded in a late header as Liverpool stole all three points – with Mourinho calling out opposition boss Klopp for his words over injury issues at Melwood.
Jordan wowed by Mourinho
Jordan waxed lyrical over the Spurs boss and what he had to say.
“His pre-match press conference was absolutely brilliant! I’m sick to the back teeth of hearing Klopp telling me how many injuries he’s got.
‘I think it’s interesting for Mourinho to push back and say, ‘let’s have a look at your players’.
“I think he’s box office, I think he brings a level of interest to the game that supersedes the standard ‘it’s a game of two halves’ mentality we’ve had to listen to for years.”
Transfer Tavern take
Judging by Jordan’s take, Mourinho certainly has one more admirer – with this season so far proving he looks to be the right man for the job at Spurs.
