Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs in the mix to sign Paulo Dybala

Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs in the mix to sign Paulo Dybala - Tottenham Hotspur News

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, as translated by Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur are in contention to sign Juventus forward Paulo Dybala.

The Lowdown: ‘World-class’ opportunity

Set to become a free agent at the end of the season (Transfermarkt), the 28-year-old is certain to be hot property for a number of elite clubs during the summer.

Capped on 32 occasions by Argentina, Dybala was hailed as a ‘world-class’ player by former England and Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson amidst previous links to Liverpool.

Now, as contract extension talks at the Allianz Stadium falter, Spurs could be set to benefit.

The Latest: Paratici’s upper hand?

According to the Italian newspaper [via SW], the Argentine ace and Juventus continue to ‘move away from each other’ during negotiations.

Previously, Fabrizio Romano had claimed that the Serie A club and Dybala had reached a ‘verbal agreement’ regarding an extension but Juve were stalling.

Now the latest update claims that Tottenham, whose director of football, Fabio Paratici, brought Dybala to Juve from Palmero in 2015, are ‘at the window’ for the versatile attacker.

The Verdict: Don’t hesitate

Given the mooted interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid as well as other Premier League clubs, Tottenham cannot afford to sit on their hands on this one.

Already a proven performer at the elite level, Dybala has scored 12 times and provided six assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Having lamented a lack of quality strength in depth, Antonio Conte will be desperately attempting to strengthen the squad in the summer and adding the £45million valued Dybala for free would be the perfect place to start.
