Tottenham: Joe Rodon now pushing for Spurs exit

Tottenham: Joe Rodon now pushing for Spurs exit -Premier League News

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is now said to be pushing for an exit from the club as the summer exodus begins.

The Lowdown: Free to leave

The Welshman was already on the periphery of first-team action under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo, and that situation hasn’t altered any since Antonio Conte arrived back in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old still has three years remaining on his contract in north London, but this lack of game time has seen him linked with a move away from the capital, with Football Insider reporting that the Lilywhites have told the centre-back that he is free to leave this window.

Nottingham Forest, Fulham and Wolves are all said to have expressed an interest in the 6 foot 3 giant, and it sounds like he is very much willing to listen to offers.

The Latest: Rodon wants out

In an article published by the Evening Standard, which covered Steven Bergwijn’s pending move to Ajax, it’s claimed that Rodon is ‘pushing’ for a Tottenham exit as a result of being ‘desperate’ to play regular football.

The source further states that he would be ‘open’ to the idea of a loan deal due to his World Cup aspirations with Wales later this year.

The Verdict: Right decision to go

Conte has already started his player clear-out as he continues to build his new-look squad, with Bergwijn the first big name to leave Spurs, and Rodon could be next to follow in his footsteps, whether it be on a temporary or permanent basis.

The 27-cap international, praised for a ‘colossal’ display by BBC correspondent Rob Phillips, has only made two top-flight appearances under the Italian since November, so a move away could be the best option for both parties.

Spurs fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the season against Man City?

If Rodon wants to play a significant role for Wales under Rob Page in Qatar, it’s important that he gets some much-needed minutes under his belt, and that’s only likely to happen if he takes the leap and departs Hotspur Way.
