Tottenham Hotspur have been ‘offered’ the chance to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to French journalist Santi Aouna.

The Lowdown: Chelsea to sanction Kante exit

The Premier League giants were on the lookout for a new midfielder over the summer and were heavily linked with a swoop for Leicester’s James Maddison, but a deal failed to materialise before the deadline.

The 31-year-old Kante's contract with the Blues is set to expire at the end of the season, with Graham Potter reportedly open to letting him leave as a result of his persistent injuries, and there’s seemingly now a strong chance that he could be making his way across the capital.

The Latest: Kante ‘offered’ to Tottenham

Taking to Twitter, Aouna revealed that Kante is likely to leave Chelsea upon the conclusion of the current campaign, and has been ‘offered’ to two of his side’s biggest rivals, presumably by his agents.

“Although he would like to stay at Chelsea, there is little chance that N'Golo Kante will continue with the Blues.

“In case of departure, Kante wishes to stay in England and more precisely in London.

“Offered to Arsenal and Tottenham.”

The Verdict: Perfect for Conte

Antonio Conte worked alongside Kante during his time at Stamford Bridge so will know exactly what he can bring to the table, and he would be an excellent addition for Tottenham.

The ‘midfield destroyer’, as dubbed by football talent scout Jacek Kulig, currently averages 2.5 tackles, two dribbles and 1.5 key passes per top-flight game (WhoScored) highlighting a creativity in the centre to accompany his renowned ball-winning abilities.

With World Cup, Champions League and Europa League titles to his name, this is a move that shouldn’t even be up for debate providing the wage demands aren't astronomical, especially considering he’s likely to be available on a free.
