Tottenham: Spurs could make dramatic ‘luxury’ signing late in the window

Tottenham: Spurs could make dramatic ‘luxury’ signing late in the window -Follow up

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Tottenham Hotspur could sign a ‘luxury’ player towards the end of the summer window.

The Lowdown: Getting down to business

Antonio Conte isn’t wasting any time when it comes to completing his transfer business, having already secured the signings of Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and most recently Clement Lenglet.

With five of the Italian’s targets through the doors before the beginning of August, he is bound to be one of the happier managers in the Premier League right now, and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

The Latest: Jones makes Spurs transfer claim

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones claimed that Tottenham’s business won’t yet be completed and believes that there will be a new addition in the final week of the window. He said:

“I’ve been told to look out for Tottenham signing a luxury player towards the back end of the window.

“They’re getting their main business done now, but Tottenham always go into the window in that last ten days, that last week, because they just love to be involved in that and see if they can get one more that boosts morale, and that’s the sort of thing that might happen this summer as well.”

The Verdict: Praise for Paratici

One of the biggest names that Tottenham have been linked with in recent weeks is former Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, who is now a free agent after leaving the Serie A giants, so the club will have to move fast if they want a shot at signing him.

Exactly who Spurs end up targeting at the last minute remains to be seen, but Fabio Paratici has got to be applauded for how quickly he’s acted in getting deals done this window, and if he could cap it all off with a player like Dybala then what a season this could be.

Spurs fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the season against Man City?

The director of football, alongside Conte, will always be open to signing additional players if the opportunity is right, so it’ll be interesting to see whether this mystery luxury star gets unveiled before the opening day of the season.
