Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min being fit for the World Cup is ‘brilliant to hear’, says Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson.

The Lowdown: Injury concerns

The South Korean was forced off the pitch after sustaining a facial injury during the 2-1 win over Marseille in the Champions League last week, which he had to undergo surgery for as a result of a fracture around his left eye.

The Premier League giants were filled with doubts that the 30-year-old would therefore have to miss the tournament in Qatar, though he has since taken to social media to reveal that he will indeed recover in time to get on the plane.

The Latest: Robinson’s reaction

Asked by Football Insider to give his reaction to Son’s hugely positive news, Robinson said:

“It is brilliant to hear that.

“The World Cup is a massive tournament that every player wants to play in. These are the moments you dream of as a footballer.

“It will be a massive honour for him to represent his country at the World Cup. It would have been blow if he was ruled out.

“I thought it looked like a bad injury. Everyone, club and country, will be over the moon that he is recovering quickly. It is good news all-round.”

The Verdict: Massive boost

Son being available to go and participate in the World Cup will come as a huge boost to him given that he is the captain of his national side.

The attacker has already earned an outstanding 105 caps for his country, scoring 35 goals during that time, and that number only looks set to increase.

Spurs will also no doubt be hoping that he returns to domestic action in his usual form as they look to string a decent run of results together in their push for a top-four finish.
