The Dutchman still has three years remaining on his contract with the Lilywhites, but has been heavily linked with a move away from N17 for quite some time now, after previously admitting that he wanted to leave the club this summer.
The Eredivisie outfit meanwhile have been long-term admirers of the 24-year-old and even had an opening £17m bid rejected.
As the 36-time Dutch champions take a second bite at the cherry, it would seem that Spurs have given the forward the green light to make the move back to his homeland.

In a new article published by 90min, it’s claimed that Ajax have ‘agreed a fee’ with Tottenham in the region of approximately £20m, with an additional £5m in add-ons.
The source states that the two parties have now ‘agreed terms’ over a transfer, with the striker set to ‘get his wish’ in the form of a Hotspur Way departure.

The Verdict: Right to let him go
Bergwijn, who was once hailed an “incredible” player by Spurs journalist Alasdair Gold, only made four top-flight starts last season, so it’s no surprise to see that he has been keen to leave the club in a bid to find more game time, and they are making the right decision in letting him do so.
The north London side have already been strongly linked with moves for the likes of Richarlison, Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha in recent weeks, and the sum that the club are set to receive can be put towards bolstering their ranks with a new frontline replacement.
Antonio Conte is already in the process of rebuilding his squad ahead of the start of the new season, but who will be walking through the Tottenham doors in the Dutchman's place remains to be seen.
