Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to make a transfer move for Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni.

The Lowdown: Spurs previous interest in Bastoni

The north London club were linked with a move for the centre-back during the previous summer transfer window.

However, they ended up not signing him, and instead secured a season-long loan deal for Clement Lenglet from Barcelona to help bolster their defence.

Now though, it appears that the Lilywhites are looking to reignite their interest in the Inter defender and finally get him to the club.

The Latest: Spurs eyeing Bastoni transfer

According to a recent report from Fcinternews.it, Spurs boss Antonio Conte is looking to bring Bastoni to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, the report also adds that Inter are not looking to let the 23-year-old leave the club, which suggests that it would not be an easy task for Tottenham to land his signature in the upcoming January transfer window.

The Verdict: A question for Conte

With 134 appearances under his belt for Inter, 74 of which came under Conte, the £85k-per-week Italian has scored three goals and delivered 12 assists.

So far this season, Bastoni, who has been praised for his "outrageous" passing in the past by journalist Roberto Rojas, has only started nine of Inter's 15 league games, which suggests that he's not at the top of the pecking order.

Across his 11 Serie A appearances, the defender has made nine clearances, 10 blocks and racked up a combined total of 18 tackles and interceptions, leaving several Inter players with more in each statistic.

His overall performances in the league have earned the centre-back a rather underwhelming season rating of 6.54/10 from WhoScored, resulting in 12 players at the club having higher ratings than him.

Taking into account the indifferent campaign he's had so far, this makes us feel that Conte needs to think hard about whether or not he feels Bastoni would be a suitable signing for Spurs.
