Club 'insider' John Wenham has been left excited by something Tottenham Hotspur 'have never done' before as he praises them for acting like a 'big club'.

The Lowdown: Spurs invest...

The north Londoners backed trophy-laden boss Antonio Conte in the summer transfer window with eight major signings, including a permanent deal for star defender Cristian Romero.

As well as the Argentine, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie put pen to paper on moves to N17 with the latter remaining at Udinese on loan.

Before that, both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Serie A giants Juventus, with sporting director Fabio Paratici sealing nine deals in total since the start of 2022.

The Premier League side appear to be reaping their rewards given they're currently still unbeaten and sit in the division's top three, even despite some questionable performances.

The Latest: Wenham excited...

Speaking to Football Insider, Wenham, who regularly breaks news on his Lilywhite Rose accounts, has heaped praise on Spurs after what he's witnessed at N17.

Indeed, he claims this amount of strength in depth is unprecedented for the Lilywhites and claims Spurs are starting to act like a 'big club'.

When asked about Tottenham's strength in depth, he explained:

“That’s how it has to be, this is what big clubs do and we are trying to be right up there.

"Historically, Tottenham have never done this. We made six first-team signings for this season excluding Destiny Udogie.

“Other than Fraser Forster, I expect the other five to be contributing heavily to the squad over the course of the season.

"Other than Spence, the other four are all contributing already. Richarlison has started a lot of games, Perisic and Lenglet are in there as well."

The Verdict: Exciting...

It appears Conte guiding Spurs back into the Champions League has changed the whole mentality of this club.

Following on from the Italian's top four finish, ENIC granted a £150 million equity increase which was swiftly put to good use in the transfer market.

It's hard to remember a Tottenham boss who has been supported this much financially and it's a real indicator that Conte is seriously making waves both on and off the pitch.

The real question is if they can build upon last year and their significant investment, but so far, they've made a truly solid start going by their standing in the Premier League.
