Tottenham: Gianluca Di Marzio shares Fabio Paratici meeting claim

Tottenham Hotspur director of football Fabio Paratici has held a meeting with AC Milan regarding the future of three squad members, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
The lowdown: Clearout pending
The Lilywhites are expected to undergo a mini squad overhaul during the remainder of the summer transfer window, with the futures of numerous players hanging in the balance.
So far this off-season, Antonio Conte has bolstered the Lilywhites’ ranks with the additions of Yves Bissouma, Clement Lenglet, Djed Spence, Richarlison, Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic, whilst only Steven Bergwijn has left from last term’s senior options.
That business has left Spurs with a rather bloated squad, leading to speculation regarding whether the likes of Harry Winks, Bryan Gil, Pape Matar Sarr and Giovani Lo Celso will remain in north London much longer.
The latest: Meeting held
As per Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, taking to his eponymous website, Tottenham have opened discussions with AC Milan about Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga.
It’s understood that Paratici met with officials from the Serie A champions, who ‘like’ Tangana in particular with a view to signing the 23-year-old England youth international on loan.
However, the report added that the Italian transfer chief discussed ‘other redundancies’ such as Ndombele and Reguilon who are ‘not part of Conte’s project’ at Hotspur Way.
The verdict: No great losses
Ultimately, the loan capture of Lenglet from Barcelona means that opportunities for Tanganga would have been few and far between, leading to the conclusion that a loan move away to further develop what is still a raw talent makes sense for all parties.
Linked elsewhere with Celtic, the erstwhile England under-21 starlet could also follow in the footsteps of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who had a successful loan spell north of the border before completing a permanent move to the Glasgow giants this summer, a fate that Spurs wouldn’t necessarily foresee for Tanganga from the outset.
As for Reguilon – who was once hailed as a ‘quality’ operator by Noel Whelan – the six-cap Spaniard has never truly settled into life in the Premier League with particular ease, and cashing in at this juncture would appear to be the smartest option.
Following an inauspicious loan stint at Lyon for the second half of the 2021/22 campaign, there would appear to be no future in N17 for Tottenham’s £54m man Ndombele. As such, Paratici should instead be looking to recoup as much of that expenditure as possible.
