Tottenham likely to discuss possible Steve Cooper move - Follow up

Tottenham are likely to discuss a possible move for Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper, according to Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Another defeat

Spurs fell to another defeat on Saturday afternoon after Sheffield United dumped them out of the FA Cup in the week. Cristian Stellini was once again the main man in the dugout before Antonio Conte returns from gallbladder surgery, with Tottenham losing 1-0 to Wolves.

A win would’ve taken them seven points clear of Newcastle in the race for the Champions League places, but Adama Traore’s late strike capped off a disappointing few days.

The Latest: Jones’ claim

In a story for GiveMeSport, Jones was talking about the managerial situation at Tottenham, claiming it is unlikely Conte leaves before the end of the season.

However, he said that former boss Mauricio Pochettino is considered favourite for the job if Conte goes, with Cooper ‘a current Premier League option that is likely to be discussed.’

The Verdict: One to watch?

Cooper has enjoyed a successful season at the City Ground so far, with Forest currently clear of the relegation zone. He has beaten Liverpool and held Manchester City at home during the current campaign, proving he has what it takes to frustrate some of the Premier League’s best.

The 3-4-1-2 manager took Forest from a relegation battle in the Championship to promotion via the playoffs last year and he actually shares the same agent as Spurs stars Heung-min Son and Richarlison. Therefore, should Conte depart in the coming months, a move for Cooper could be one to keep an eye on, especially following this claim from Jones.
