Tottenham Hotspur are working on an unnamed ‘marquee signing’ in addition to Destiny Udogie and a permanent agreement for Cristian Romero, according to Football Insider.
Udogie underwent a medical on Monday as Spurs put the finishing touches on their latest deal.
The 19-year-old left-back will remain with Udinese in Serie A for the 2021/22 season before sealing a £20million switch to Tottenham next summer.
The report states that, after Udogie, Spurs will confirm the capture of Romero ‘in the coming days’.
And they won’t stop there, with another major addition also planned before the end of the window on 1 September.
The mystery final signing will come once they have offloaded all of Giovani Lo Celso, Tanguy Ndombele, Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks.
This has the potential to be a transformative summer for Tottenham – even before this latest spree, they had spent £91.7million on six signings.
And now with Udogie, Romero and a mystery big name coming in, the project looks even more menacing.
So who should Spurs target to crown their impressive window?
Well, Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic has argued that they could do with a creative midfielder who would be able to thrive in a 3-5-2 formation, should Conte wish to use it.
And one potential option is James Maddison, a player who registered 12 assists in all competitions last season.
Crucially, the Englishman is keen to move to North London, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.
