Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will be without midfielder Yves Bissouma against Crystal Palace on Wednesday after the Mali international picked up his fifth booking of the season.

The Lowdown: Villa stun Spurs

Spurs fans endured a miserable afternoon on Sunday against Aston Villa, kicked off with the early bad news that Dejan Kulusevski has suffered a muscle injury.

The Sweden international will reportedly have a scan on the problem and it is expected to only be a short-term issue, but it's hardly ideal given the manager is already without Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur.

And the clash at Selhurst Park on Wednesday has now got even trickier, with Bissouma adding to Conte's list of problems.

The Latest: Bissouma out

Despite only making his eighth start of the Premier League campaign on New Year's Day, the former Brighton star has now reached the top flight's threshold for yellow card accumulation, confirmed by Alasdair Gold on Twitter.

"That's a fifth booking of the season for Yves Bissouma as he labours to get back and makes a late lunge. So he'll miss the match at Palace."

Fans didn't seem too disappointed in the replies to Gold's tweet, with one supporter calling the 26 year-old "useless" and another saying he "won't be missed".

The Verdict: Massive blow for Conte

Were Bentancur fit, it would be hard to disagree with the verdict from those disgruntled fans, as the Mali midfielder would likely have to settle for a place on the bench anyway.

However, with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Oliver Skipp now the only recognised options in central midfield, Conte's squad is looking scarily thin.

The boss is already down on forward numbers after Kulusevski and Richarlison's problems, and a frantic night under the lights at Selhurst Park with so few options through the spine of the team now looks sure to present some serious problems.
