A Tottenham Hotspur insider has now dropped a pretty definitive claim involving Troy Parrott.

The Lowdown: Lacking firepower

Spurs are certainly struggling in front of goal in the Premier League so far this season, as they have the worst expected goals (xG) ratio (4.7 xG) out of all of the teams in the top flight (The Athletic).

This is partially due to the worrying form of Harry Kane, who is yet to score in the division in five games so far this term (Transfermarkt).

The Latest: Insider on Parrott

Speaking to Football Insider, John Wenham, a Lilywhites insider who regularly breaks news about the North London club on his Lilywhite Rose social media platforms, has now claimed that Parrott will not be returning from his loan spell at MK Dons early, despite their current lack of threat in front of goal:

“No, there is no chance of that.

“The club are happy with Troy being on loan with MK Dons and starting every week. That’s what they want.

“It would be crazy for them to consider that. If he came back, he would only be on the bench and would only get a few minutes here and there.

“Once you go out on loan, the plan is in motion. I would never agree with bringing players back.

“He seems happy over there and is set for a very good season. We aren’t that far away from January and I expect we would rather try and sign someone else.”

The Verdict: Get Kane back firing

The key for THFC now is not to suddenly rely upon a 19-year-old in Parrott, but to get Kane back firing and at his best.

Sure, Parrott has been doing well at the Dons so far, with three goals and three assists in nine matches in total in League One ('clever, smart, cheeky player' back in February.

However, the Republic of Ireland international would struggle to displace Kane in the team, even if he is not on form, and so Nuno Espirito Santo must instead find a way to get his talisman back to scoring goals in the Premier League.
