# Tottenham Hotspur: Pete O’Rourke makes Raphinha claim

**Speaking to [GiveMeSport,](https://www.givemesport.com/87975594-tottenham-should-definitely-be-in-the-reckoning-for-raphinha) journalist Pete O’Rourke has made a Tottenham Hotspur claim involving Leeds United playmaker and Premier League star Raphinha.**

### The Lowdown: Tottenham eye number 10?

As per recent reports, Spurs have had potential playmaker signings in their sights, with Man United attacker Jesse Lingard even having been [looked at by the Lilywhites](https://twitter.com/ChrisWheelerDM/status/1488151917553491970) on deadline day.

This comes even after transfer chief Fabio Paratici signed Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski, with the versatile winger adept at playing in the [playmaker role](https://twitter.com/ftalentscout/status/1289578658185850881) when required.

As Leeds’ star man Raphinha becomes the subject of interest from many top clubs, O’Rourke has made a claim involving Spurs.

### The Latest: O’Rourke makes claim…

Speaking to [GMS,](https://www.givemesport.com/87975594-tottenham-should-definitely-be-in-the-reckoning-for-raphinha) he says Tottenham should ‘definitely’ be in the reckoning to sign the Brazilian if he becomes available.

He explained:

“If Raphinha is available and clubs think they can get him, Spurs should definitely be in the reckoning as well.”

### The Verdict: Get it done?

The 25-year-old has been electric under Marcelo Bielsa again this season, currently topping Leeds’ charts as their highest goal-scorer and joint-top provider of assists ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds)).

It is little wonder Raphinha is attracting such interest, and despite his alleged €75 million release clause (£62.5m), recent reports suggest he could be more affordable for Spurs on one condition.

Indeed, [FootballTransfers and journalist Gianluigi Longari](https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2022/02/raphinha-transfer-news-chelsea-lead-barcelona-leeds-winger-could-go-25m) claim this figure could drop to around €25 million (£20.8m) if the Whites are relegated – coming as a possible boost for Paratici.

Lauded [‘world class’](https://www.google.com/amp/s/motleedsnews.com/exclusives/leeds-united-ace-raphinha-hailed-world-class-by-pundit-after-2-1-win-at-norwich-city/%3Famp) by ex-Lilywhite Paul Robinson, we believe Tottenham should certainly swoop if Bielsa’s side drop down to the Championship.
