Tottenham have had Dembele on their radar, with [Spanish sources previously claiming](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20211204/1001721033/tottenham-tienta-dembele-oferton.html) that transfer chief Fabio Paratici earmarked the player as a target.

### The Latest: Spurs ‘match’ Man United bid…

According to [their information](https://thekickoffnews.wixsite.com/thekickoffnews/post/exclusiva-dembel%C3%A9-el-tottenham-iguala-la-oferta-de-20-m-del-united), Tottenham have now ‘matched’ an offer from Man United for Dembele as they table a €20m (£16.6m) bid.

The report stated that Antonio Conte’s side and the Red Devils are two Premier League candidates to sign the winger, with ‘intense hours’ on the horizon today.

### The Verdict: Right move?

The former Borussia Dortmund ace would come with both pros and cons.

While Dembele has [drawn comparisons](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-10271587/Joan-Laporta-insists-Ousmane-Dembele-BETTER-Kylian-Mbappe.html) with fellow French star Kylian Mbappe, his [torrid injury record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/verletzungen/spieler/288230) and [sky-high salary](https://salarysport.com/football/player/ousmane-demb%C3%A9l%C3%A9/) could be a real point of contention despite the fact that he could leave for a cut-price fee before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has called the attacker a [‘crazy’ and ‘incredible’](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6572463/Ousmane-Dembeles-former-boss-Thomas-Tuchel-says-Frenchmans-behaviour-never-boring.html) player, having worked with him at Dortmund, but with Spurs looking to add to Conte’s ranks with last-minute moves, they should also weigh up their next one carefully.
